What jobs to do in herpetology? GCSE and what I need to do what Steve Irwin (bit no TV)?

My dream is to be a herpetologist and capture and rescue animals and take the kind of thing Steve Irwin has done, but not the bit of television. I live in Britain and love lizards and snakes crocodiles, lizards and spiders and above and would like to work with them.

Get a degree in biology and zoology, while working at the zoo and possibly a mentor. When it comes to snakes, there is no substitute for practical experience.
