I found this spider in my house, and can not be identified. I live in northern / Central Texas. The spider is the size of my thumb, and dark, except the stomach, which is lighter in color. I think it could be a plain Spiders Daddy Long legs … But I'm not sure. Here is a link to a photo taken from the Spider: http://twistedxvision.deviantart.com/art/Spidey-191462479 If someone could help me understand that is, what it would be great. Thanks.
This is a typical harvesting (ie, Daddy-Long legs, Opiliones) found in Texas. This is probably Eumesosoma one gender. Compare: http://bugguide.net/node/view/255313/bgimage

I got a seriouse problem and need psychological help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
O.k. heres the deal, I am freakin scared of all types of spiders, including tarantulas! Especially the ones with the crazy long legs and almost everything about them gets me, when i am going through like a national geographic book and see an big picture of them i have like this immediate reaction and jolt away fast. Heres the problem, in BIOLOGY we are starting to learn about the animal kingdoms and soon the next chapter wich we should be covering and starting the end of this week is about ARACHNIDS!!!!!!!!!!!! The problem is i cant stand all most spiders. even fake drawings that are books have!!!!!!!!!!
Its their dang freaking legs!!!! They have soooo many wich anything with more than 4 legs starts to raise a hair on my back!!!! But no other animal has me freakin creeped out!
What can I do, because i cant run from this, i will eventually have to face it but how. I cant stand them! Tarantulas are really ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COuld someone please help me with this!
if you can look at them in books, that would be a good start to get over your phobia. They say exposing yourself to the fear is helpful to overcoming it. I had a snake book and I had the exact same reaction. Spiders are actually good because they eat up other gross bugs. Most of them won’t hurt you. Maybe what you learn about them in your class will help you understand them better. Although I could have done without dissecting frogs and worms!
