what I know is that they are arachnids, but my annoying sister says that scorpions are reptiles.
so who is right? me? or my annoying sister?
Your annoying sister is completely wrong. Scorpions are indeed arachnids, a type of invertebrate. Reptiles are vertebrates.
In response Andrew G’s answer, whilst scorpions and spiders are both arachnids, they are certainly not in the same genus. They’re not even in the same family or order, never mind genus! And for Thomas C – arachnids and insects are completely different groups. Arachnids have 8 legs and 2 body segments, whilst insects have 6 legs and 3 body segments. Also, there are 3 different animals commonly called ‘daddy-long-legs’ – spiders of the family Pholcidae, harvestmen (arachnids, but not spiders), and crane flies (insects).
